For Americans, Rush Hour 3 is a big sequel with lots of buzz. For the more select fans who followed Jackie Chan's career in Hong Kong, there is even bigger news about a sequel to one of Chan's most popular series.

"Next year, April the 1st, I start a new movie," Chan revealed. "I direct, I write my own script. It's called Operation Condor 3: Chinese Zodiac. Big action."
The Operation Condor series features Chan as an Indiana Jones-style adventurer pursuing mythical artifacts, with Chan's trademark style of action scenes. Perhaps the biggest find in part three will be Chan's return to directing.

"I haven't been directing for more than 10 years, even though I'm helping all my directors on the set. But now this time I'm totally in control. I write my own script. You'll see what happens.

This may be the most personal Jackie Chan movie in a decade. "Directing you can do a lot of things. I can put all my messages inside, I can put all my ideas inside. It's the feeling I create something."

Meanwhile, Chan is currently filming The Forbidden Kingdom, a Western take on the classic Chinese "Journey to the West" tale, with Jet Li and Collin Chou. He can also be seen soon in Brett Ratner's Rush Hour 3, out August 10.

He talked about AOG3 in 2006. Maybe. I guess it's more like a story about 12 Chinese Zodiac head statues that has been stolen from China during the times of Western Invasion of China during the early 1900s. Up to now, only two Zodiac heads has been recovered by the Chinese government through an auction.

Jackie said while promoting TM in 2006 in Mainland China, that he wants to write a script about how he tries to steal those stolen statues back from the countries where the statues are currently stored (which in fact, no one knows those exact countries). He said that he cannot do the stealing in real life, but he can do it in movies. The original director was meant to be Stanley Tong.

Later on, he seems to talk more about doing a sequel of AOG, and about how he wanted to direct again. Fankie, when asked by the Chinese press, sort of confirmed the idea that a possible project with Jackie was coming up, but didn't say whether it would AOG3 nor revealed anymore info.

So, I think the script might really be about how Jackie steal those statues back. Even if it is not called AOG3, that very idea of stealing definitely reminds us of Jackie's Asian Hawk character in AOG and AOG:OP.

Chinese action film legend Jackie Chan will write, direct and star in the third episode of "Armor of God" series, ten years after his directorial debut in the first "Armor."

Jackie Chan released the news when promoting his latest work "Rush Hour 3," which came out in theaters in the United States on August 3.

The third "Armor" will be of a complete classical Jackie Chan style, says Frankie Chan, executive director of the film, according to the Beijing News.

"There won't be many special effects in the film, as Jackie is strong enough to do the action part himself," Frankie Chan says, "Actually he will challenge himself for something new."

The film revolves around the Kung Fu star fighting against the evil power in a worldwide chase for a Chinese treasure. In addition to making it another action blockbuster, the film is to shed more light on the inner feelings of the figures.

According to Frankie Chan, the film's leading actress will be a Chinese beauty who speaks English perfectly well. And she will be accompanied by two other female roles speaking French and Mandarin respectively.

Shooting is anticipated to start next April, after Jackie Chan finishes acting in Hong Kong director Tung-Shing Yee's "Shinjuku Incident."

Euuuh 'And she will be accompanied by two other female roles speaking French and Mandarin respectively'...

At a news conference this week Jackie announced plans to film his 100th movie, tentatively titled Chinese Zodiac. Jackie told reporters that he has wanted to make this movie for over 6 years but has not had the opportunity. Plans are to film in several countries including China, Austria, and France. Jackie will be directing along with Stanley Tong.

(Note: Included in Jackie's 100 films are those in which he played a cameo or uncredited role.)

Jackie Chan indicates that while he has known the abbot Shi Yong Xin for more than 10 years, and he had expressed interests in working him Jackie Chan says that he is not likely to shave his head as he's doing another film, Chinese Zodiac, which is about treasure hunting, that begins production in January 2010.

Originally, he was wavering, turned it down after accepting due to Chinese Zodiac, that has been in works for 5, 6 years. But Albert Yeung told him that the film needed him, that's why he took up this project. However, it's by and large a cameo.

He says that he'd be directing Chinese Zodiac, for the script is really excellent, and the cast will be new blood predominantly, with his friends like Louis Koo making guest appearances. It will be shot on location in Europe, such as France.

The treasure hunt begins...

Then he will start working on his 100th movie, "Chinese Zodiac," in a shoot he said is expected to last until the end of 2011.

"You won't see me for a while," Chan said.

Jackie Chan is leaving no stones unturned on Chinese Zodiac, allocating 70m yuan for one major action scene alone, "I have been hesitant about this for a long time, many told me it is too extravagant, and advised me against it. But eventually, I still go for it. This film will contain many vigorous action scenes, I'd almost be fighting throughout the film, but my most demanding action scenes will stop at this movie."
