Steve Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Source : AintItCool Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Now, when I wrote a story on the announcement of this project I was a little skeptical. DRACULA YEAR ZERO... the title doesn't inspire confidence, sounding like something you'd find on the direct to DVD list of some Z-grade company or maybe as a Sci-Fi Channel original movie. But then I got a ton of email from people all over the industry and regular fans that got their hands on the script telling me how good it was. I tracked down a copy, but I haven't read it yet. It would appear they're right, though. Alex Proyas is an interesting director. As much as I didn't care for I, ROBOT, he's certainly not in a direct to DVD league. Now he's signed on to direct this script, by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless. Apparently the script focuses on Vlad the man, when he's in his prime. He's sold his soul, but he used it protect his family and country... he's regarded as a hero in Romania for defending against the Turks. Now I'm going to have to dig up that script and finally give it a read. That does sound pretty interesting and much fresher take on the Dracula legend than we've been getting for a long while.
