301 - Jeff Kanew - 2009

National Lampoon, Inc., the most widely recognized brand in comedy, today announced plans for its next in-house feature film production, "National Lampoon's 301: The Legend of Awesomest Maximus Wallace Leonidas."

"301", written by Jason Burinescu, spoofs all of the great sword and sandal epics, such as "300", "Troy", "Gladiator", and "Braveheart". The storyline is centered around Awesomest, the bumbling out of shape general of Sparta who has spent his life failing forward, but is destined for greatness. Project will be produced by National Lampoon and Dan Farah of Farah Films, along with Burinescu through his Vision Entertainment banner. Dale Rosenbloom will executive produce. Project is being fast tracked to production and the producers are currently out to cast actors and directors.

 

"This is a script that we felt we had to make, and the kind of epic film people will watch for years to come," stated Daniel Laikin, National Lampoon Chief Executive Officer. "As we aggressively move into the in-house film production business, this is the kind of project we get very excited about. This will be a great complement to our library."

 

Farah calls the project "a hilarious equal opportunity offender that will be sort of a mix between 'History of the World' and 'Scary Movie'."

 

Attorney David Feldman negotiated the deal. Project brought in by National Lampoon executive Justin Kanew.

Rappelons également que National Lampoon avait déjà apposé son label sur une parodie, produite et distribuée par New Line, Loaded Weapon, connue chez nous sous le nom d'Alarme Fatale.

301 est l'une de leurs premières productions maison.

The Hollywood Reporter says National Lampoon is moving forward with its next in-house production, National Lampoon's The Legend of Awesomest Maximus, a spoof of sword-and-sandal flicks such as Gladiator, 300 and Troy.

 

"Mad TV's" Will Sasso will lead a cast that includes Kristanna Loken (Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines), Ian Ziering ("Beverly Hills, 90210"), Sophie Monk (Date Movie), Tony Cox (Bad Santa) and Rip Torn (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story).

 

The script was written by Jason Burinescu, and Revenge of the Nerds helmer Jeff Kanew will direct.

 

Dan Farah and Burinescu are also producing. Sasso and Dale Rosenbloom are executive producers.

Mon dieu, je pensais que Jeff Kanew était mort après les excellents Coup Double et Un Privé en escarpins.

Bon, ça doit etre la pire parodie que j'ai vu avec Y a t il un flic pour sauver l'humanité, c'est dire.

Meet the Spartans et Disaster Movie étaient pénibles mais possédaient un coté hypnotique, on voulait savoir jusqu'où ça irait. Là on a juste envie d'arreter au bout de 10mn. Si vous trouviez le carton pate de Meet the Spartans cheap, attendez de voir celui là avec ses fonds bleu et sa 3D monstrueuse et ses décors intérieurs de 10m². Le montage (effectué sur Final Cut Pro!) est aussi indigent, avec faux raccords en pagailles et transitions amateurs.

Des mecs défoncés ou qui disent qu'ils le sont ou qu'ils l'ont été, des filles en string qui se trémoussent, des anachronismes de langage et un listing de pratiques sexuelles extrêmes, voilà l'essentiel des riens de répétition (à ce niveau, on ne peut plus appeler ça des gags) qui composent quasi essentiellement ce film. Même s'ils se basaient sur les mêmes ressorts, les tentatives de gags des films de F&S étaient finalement plus variées et inattendues.

Le seul gag vraiment osé étant de faire interprété le cousin de Testiculès (parodie d'Achille, dont le point faible est... ses couilles...) par un vrai trisomique au strabisme mono oculaire. Et puis il y a un semblant d'histoire et de structure qu'on ne retrouve pas chez F&S.

Mais bon, du sous Friedberg/Seltzer interprété par un sous Bigard, voilà ce qui vous attend.
