... et le film est annoncé en sortie nationale le 20 aout 2008 par Metropolitan Filmexport.

 

Après bien des problèmes d'écritures & d'ordre technique du fait de l'utilisation de la 3 D, le film avec Brendan Fraser est sur les bons rails. (en France, il sortira d'ailleurs à peine une semaine après la Momie 3).

 

C'est New Line et Walden Media qui se chargent du financement de cette nouvelle version (remaniée, apparemment) du célèbre roman de Jules Verne.

 

On y verra la jolie Anita Briem en compagnie de Brendan Fraser.

C'est déjà tourné, y'a des projos test en ce moment. Donc ça va mettre un an à sortir, autant dire qu'ils ont le temps de le roder. Des premiers echos, 3D à part, Walden Media regresse un peu, en faisant un truc du niveau du Tour du Monde en 80 jours.

I happened to catch a screening of JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH 3-D at ShoWest complete with RealD glasses and pristine digital production. It didn't help. We're not supposed to doing formal review for these ShoWest screenings because they're not "review screening" so instead I'll try things in a different format. With full respect to our resident Top 10er Jim Law, here's my mini-Ten Spot, The 10 Most Ridiculous Things About JOURNEY 3-D.

 

10. The temperature at the center of the Earth is dangerously hot. It reaches upwards of 110 degrees!! So basically Arizona is hotter than the center of the Earth.

 

9. Continuing on that theme, the temperature is rising, we're constantly reminded about how threatening that is and Brendan Fraser continues to wear a long-sleeved thermal shirt. Bro. Take off the long johns. This ain't Green Bay.

 

Gosh it's hot down here. Wish I knew a quick way to cool down...

 

8. The set-up for a sequel at the end. Please God, spare me.

 

7. The introduction of a yo-yo simply to yo-yo in 3-D. That was cool...back in FRIDAY THE 13TH: PART 3.

 

6. The luminescent bird that befriends the group. I had no problems until it turned Disney sidekick and turned anthropomorphic and shrugged its shoulders and covered its eyes in embarrassment.

 

5. The lack of any kind of peril. They have fallen through a hole to a mystical land in the middle of the Earth where they get attacked by large prehistoric fish and they're like "awesome!" I would be shitting my pants. They're high-fiving.

 

Giant-fanged fish jumped out of the water to eat us? HAHAHahahaHAHAhaahAHaHAHA!!!

2. Brendan Fraser fights giant Venus Fly Traps - with his fist. He actually finds the best way to battle a Venus Fly Trap is to box it.

 

And finally....

 

1. Cell phone reception at the center of the Earth. Yes, in the aformentioned scene with the attacking prehistoric fish, the kid gets a cell phone call from his mom. "Sorry Mom, can't talk now! Beating off prehistoric fish with a stick!" I couldn't get cell reception in the elevator at the hotel but in the Earth's core? Why not?!

On sent quand même bien que ça a été pensé comme une attraction plus que comme un film de cinéma. Du rollercoaster et des scènes de comédie pour meubler (et quand les deux se croisent ça le fait pas forcément, lors de la descente en wagon mon voisin m'a très justement fait remarquer "mais on s'en fout des contre-champs!"). C'est incroyable de drôlerie cocasse (le coup de l'oiseau dépité j'ai eu envie de mourir et le "preums pour pécho la ptite guide" aussi, ça m'a tué ça ), la première partie sans grand intérêt s'étire au-dela des limites du raisonnable...

 

Dommage, dès que l'aventure prend son envol c'est vraiment chouette, un jeu de plateformes très coloré (même si on perd un peu en contraste comme tu dis WS) avec ses endroits inaccessibles et ses boss de fin de niveau. J'aurais aimé qu'ils développent un peu plus le bestiaire, ça manque un brin d'anacondas mais bon les plésiosaures pour un fan de crypto c'est déjà pas si mal (j'ai faillit m'évanouir de bonheur, trop courte cette scène, c'est à peu près tout ce que j'ai retenu en fait). Enfin heureusement que le film est en 3D quand même hein.

 

Par contre ça m'a défoncé le crâne au bout d'un quart d'heure et la 3D semble mieux ce prêter aux films en images de synthese (ce qui est doit être logique en fait?) c'était vraiment probant sur les bandes annonces de Volt et Fly me to the Moon (qui ont l'air abominables mais je les attends impatiemment).
